King Lee Heon of Joseon has been grieving the death of his beloved wife for seven years. Despite efforts to have him remarry, he remains in mourning, leading to the nation’s geumhonryung edict banning single women from marrying. Amidst public outrage, a woman named Ye So Rang, a swindler claiming to see the spirit of the king’s late wife, attracts the king’s attention. After being jailed for her deceit, Ye So Rang pretends to be possessed by the spirit of the queen to escape punishment. Her act spirals as she is brought before the king, where she pretends to communicate with his deceased wife to survive, escalating her lies.
